about the artist

hi! my name is Lita Farquhar & I am a multimedia artist who believes in the power of joy as resistance. connecting with our own whimsy & magic is very important. this isn’t something that is encouraged within our current society and, often times, the corporations behind the "accessible" magic worlds (think amusement parks) are often doing some not-so-cool stuff behind the scenes.

as a survivor of severe childhood trauma, making these pieces & leading these workshops is a way for me to provide ancestral healing. my Granny was my favorite person as a child & we shared a love for miniatures. she was also an incredible knitter and knitted me beautiful dolls & creatures. a great grandfather x 4 or 5 ?? lol was a well-known mask maker.

Lita's "Little" Shop aims to bring an energy of creativity, curiosity, & delight to every space without any lowkey evil nonsense. whether this is through a handmade piece, a spot at a local market, or a workshop— the vibe is guaranteed to be welcoming, expressive, & kind.

my art reflects where I reside & where I've been with New Orleans & Rhode Island at the current center. I like to use as many secondhand materials as possible with the creatures I make out of polymer clay. polymer clay is not my medium of choice for it's sustainability (joking), but for it's affordability & accessibility. the secondhand materials gathered locally are not only sustainable, but reflect the lives of the folks who live in the community.

thank you for taking the time to read about my art & values. creating is so human & so necessary. don't ever stop :)
